The Vatican

It is located within the city of Rome, Italy, and is the smallest independent state in the world, in terms of area and population.

As the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church is led by the Pope, who resides in the Apostolic Palace.

The most famous attraction within the Vatican is the Sistine Chapel. It is renowned for its stunning ceiling frescoes, particularly Michelangelo’s masterwork, “The Creation of Adam.”

You can also find many art galleries and museums, including the Vatican Museums, which are home to an extensive collection of art and historical artifacts, including works by renowned artists such as Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci.

When you visit the Vatican don’t miss St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest Christian church in the world. It is believed to sit on the burial site of Saint Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus.
